Clitheroe Great Days Festival
GREAT DAYS ARRIVE EARLY 18th, 19th & 20th May 2007
The Clitheroe Great Days Festival took a decision to bring forward its weekend of music, dance and theatre to coincide with a brand new event for the town. The Clitheroe Festival Weekend will launch on Friday 18 th May when Great Days will present a world music event at The St Mary's Centre on Church Brow in Clitheroe and the following day will offer a variety of free events within the grounds of Clitheroe Castle . The organisers will align their concert and street arts activities with attractions being planned by other local groups. Great Days Festival press officer Seamus Heffernan said: “We as festival organisers have been keen to foster a collaborative approach to the running of the Great Days. We applaud the impetus behind Clitheroe Festival Weekend and the pulling together of the various groups and local organisations who will provide a spectacular and diverse array of activities and events over the weekend.” The town's annual knees-up for the past 11 years has taken place on the first weekend in June but Great Days organisers took the decision to join other organisations including Ribble Valley Rail, the Clitheroe Beer Festival and Clitheroe – The Future in this co-ordinated celebration of local, national and international arts and culture. The Great Days' contribution to the weekend begins on Friday 18 th May when Cuban 9-piece band Asere and East Yorkshire dance outfit Mambo Jambo will perform at the St Mary's Centre
